We have been unpacking the new collections for Autumn Winter 2008 as they arrive here at Sisters and Fergie and I am really happy to say that they are a breath of fresh air from what I have seen in the high street. I have been travelling far and wide looking for unique fashion that stands out from the crowds to offer to my clientele and I cannot wait to launch the season which we plan to do on Friday 22 August. We have ranges from Italy, Spain, France and the USA all launching with us for the first time this season. Exciting ranges and exciting times ahead. Apple Bottom Jeans are going to be huge, I am convinced! Everyone by now must have heard the song by Low Rider where he sings " Apple Bottom Jeans, Boots with the fur" I came across the brand late last year and bought the collection for my shops. It is owned by the singer Nelly and it is already a huge label in the USA where it has a vast range including plus sizes. Strangeley enough the european collection is not featuring plus sizes, this really frustrates me, do they think there are no size 20 girls outside the USA? If they did offer me plus size we would buy it, lots of girls need a bigger size in jeans and I do not see what the problem is. Apple Bottoms afterall is a cheeky take on a round, ample butt! We have just taken in our summer delivery of J Brand Jeans. We have two fits, the Lovestory ( as seen in all the fashion mags and loads of celebs) and the 18" Bootcut. So far, everyone who has tried them on has loved them and they look like being a best seller for us. The jeans have no branding at all which is really refreshing in today's label obsessed society. How bad are all the fake UGG Boots that are doing the rounds at the moment? Crappy synthetic fabric, collapsed heels and rubbish colourways. They look naff, nobody is fooled and despite the magazines saying you can "create the look"..... you cant. If a jobs worth doing it is worth doing properley, so buy the real deal, yes you will pay more for it, but you will have it for ages and wont look like all the other copycats not wearing the real deal. Remember if you want to wear sheepskin boots they need to have UGG or LFA on the heel, anything else is a waste of time and money and really very tacky!!!! We are seeing a big change in attitude to peoples shopping habits in the shop, Sisters Boutique 13 Lint Riggs, Falkirk, FK1 1DG (www.sistersboutique.co.uk) with regards to buying the "one wash wonders" that the high street has been full of in recent years. You know what I mean, the cheap £10 top that looks great in the shop, fine when you first wear it but a different story when you actually wash, iron and put it on again. The majority of these clothes are made in the far east in sweatshops where people are paid very little and although you think you are getting a bargain at the time, are you really? My first leap into buying "Quality not Quantity" was when I bought a really cool black leather handbag at the cost of £495. Expensive yes....very, I was sweating at the till handing over payment, but think about it, the bag has been used every day for 6 years with the odd exception of when I've been on holiday etc and its as good as the day I bought it, infact quality gets better with age, it now has a really good vintage look to it that only comes with years of use of a quality item. How many £25 bags would I have gone through in 6 years? Lots is the answer and they would all be in the bin and heading for the landfill sites. As the summer months creep up on us we can all start to look forward to getting the summer wardrobes ready for what will hopefully be a long hot summer - we are due it after all to make up for last years wash out. Yea you heard me right, but honest, it's a style that's on its way back. If you want to really carry the look off you should also be looking for check shirts to tuck into your jeans as the whole 70's look is going to be strong this year. We are thinking the original Charlie's Angels and then you get an idea of where we are coming from. Ever struggled to get a pair of boots zipped up? I've sat there, waiting on the assistant to bring me my size of the most fabulous boots in the world, only to be gutted when I cannot get the zip fastened over my calf. I have however now solved my problem! I have bought in a collection of boots for my boutiques that actually fit. I got my first delivery on Friday and we had alot of happy ladies slipping them on and zipping them all the way up!!! Hey some even got their jeans tucked in!!!!! Have you had this problem?
